Tips & Tricks

The perfect pour

Measure your ice + never spill a drop

  • Pick a glass to match your drink
  • Fill glass with ice per cocktail type
  • Add ice from glass to shaker
  • Make your drink
  • Pour entire shaker back into glass without a spill

Why it works

Pre measuring the ice guarantees that the content of your shaker always matches the size of your glass.

The Thick Crema

Get the signature foam on your drink

  • Use small-medium ice cubes (not crushed)
  • Leave some room in shaker
  • Shake it like you mean it for 15 seconds
  • Empty entire shaker into glass
  • Garnish & enjoy

Why it works

Staria has built-in foam. Shaking it vigorously activates it and gives your cocktail a smooth, silky texture…like something you’d pay $17 for at a serious cocktail bar.

The velvety smooth

Create the softest texture for your drink

  • Use small-medium ice cubes (not crushed)
  • Leave some room in shaker
  • Increase pours to 2 oz Staria + 2 oz your favorite spirit
  • Shake it like you mean it for 15 seconds
  • Double strain into a coupe
  • Garnish & enjoy

Why it works

Staria has built-in foam. Shaking it vigorously activates it and straining out the ice gives your cocktail a smoothest, velvetiest texture…like something you’d pay $17 or more for at a serious cocktail bar.

Staria sweet and sour balance guide
Genius Move

Sweet ↔ sour fine tuning

We made Staria’s sweet-sour balance to please nearly everyone. But you might be the exception. No worries. Here’s how to tune Staria cocktails into your exact taste.

  • Make it sweeter: add a spoonful of maple syrup, honey, jam or simple syrup to your shaker (liquid sweeteners blend in easily)
  • Make it sourer: squeeze a wedge of lemon or lime into your shaker

Why it works

Small adjustments in these two powerful tastes can make all the difference. Tweak until you find your happy spot.

Staria cocktail garnish ideas and techniques

The garnish game

Garnishes can pull together cocktails like bows on presents. Here’s how to do it right.

  • Visuals: pick something that will stand out without overwhelming the drink, like a mint sprig, a citrus wheel or a flower petal.
  • Aroma: if the garnish has a strong aroma, make sure it complements the drink.
  • Flavor: even though few people eat the garnish on their drink, make sure it’s edible…just in case.
  • Story: pick something that matches the occasion, location or a back story.

Why it works

Garnished drinks communicate one thing above all — that you made the drink with love. A little can go a long way.

Staria cocktail glass rimming technique
Genius Move

To rim or not to rim?

Rims act as condiments to drinks. Use them to add sweet, salty or savory characteristics to drinks and have fun with the combinations.

  • Technique: place rim seasoning on a flat plate, rub a lemon or lime wedge around the rim and press it into the seasoning.
  • Full vs half rim: go with half rim, as it looks considered and gives people a choice.
  • Flavors: play around and have fun with seasoned salts (chili, tajin, smoked), sugars (brown, saffron, maple) and savory options (sale + sesame/herbs/bacon).

Why it works

Because it’s fun and adds a bit more depth to the experience. It’s also a great conversation piece.
